When should a hedge be trimmed?
Most hedges do best trimmed in the growing season with a lighter tidy later on, while taking care to avoid disturbing nesting birds. Companies will advise on the right timing for your species.
How much can be cut back at once?
As a rule of thumb, no more than a third of the growth at a time; hard renovation is done in stages over several seasons. This keeps the hedge healthy and encourages it to fill back in.
Is removal of the clippings included?
Usually yes, but check that it is specified in the quote. Mention the volume you expect if it is a large or overgrown hedge.
